Army’s assault dog Zoom, who had been shot twice during an operation in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, passed away while undergoing treatment on Thursday. Zoom died around 12 pm at the Advance Field Veterinary Hospital, according to Army officials quoted by the news agency ANI. “He was doing well until around 11.45 am when he suddenly started gasping and collapsed,” they said.

Security forces had initiated a search operation in the Tangpawa area of Anantnag district on Sunday night after receiving information about the presence of militants. Zoom was sent into the house on Monday morning where the militants were suspected to be hiding.

Despite sustaining two bullet wounds, Zoom continued to attack the militants, aiding in their neutralization, according to the Army. The encounter resulted in the deaths of two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants and injuries to two soldiers.
