Center Link Your Voter ID with Aadhaar Card Now!

2 min read

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated a campaign to connect voter identity cards with Aadhaar cards. The purpose of this initiative, as stated by the ECI, is to verify the identity of voters and authenticate information in the electoral roll, as well as to identify any instances of multiple registrations in different constituencies or within the same constituency.

It is important to note that linking the voter ID or Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) with Aadhaar is optional. The ECI has made it clear that no voter will be removed from the electoral list for not submitting their Aadhaar number.

To link the Aadhaar card with the EPIC online through mobile, the ECI has provided the following steps:

1. Download and install the Voter Helpline App from either the Play Store (for Android users) or the App Store (for iPhone users).
2. Open the Voter Helpline App and agree to the terms, then proceed to the Voter Registration section and select the Electoral Authentication Form (Form6B) to begin.
3. Enter your mobile number, receive and enter the OTP, then verify your information.
4. Enter your Voter ID (EPIC) number, select your State, fetch details, and proceed to enter your Aadhaar Number, Mobile Number, and Place of Application.
5. Review the details, confirm the submission of Form-6B, and receive the reference number.

Form-6B allows voters to share their Aadhaar number with the ECI, and can also be accessed online at nvsp.in.

The ECI’s decision to link voter IDs with Aadhaar follows the passage of The Election Laws (Amendment) Act, 2021 in Parliament last December. This Act amends the Representation of the People Act to allow for voluntary linking of voter IDs with Aadhaar for authentication of entries in the electoral roll.
