Central India Battles Rising COVID-19 Infections with High Vaccination Rates

India recorded 20,038 new cases of coronavirus in a single day, bringing the total number of cases to 4,37,10,027, with 1,39,073 active cases, according to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry on Friday. The death toll has risen to 5,25,604, with 47 new fatalities reported.

Active cases now make up 0.32% of total infections, with a national recovery rate of 98.48%. The active COVID-19 caseload increased by 2,997 cases in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate is 4.44% and the weekly positivity rate is 4.30%.

Over 4,30,45,350 people have recovered from the disease, with a case fatality rate of 1.20%. The country has administered 199.47 crore vaccine doses under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive.

India’s Covid-19 cases crossed the milestones of 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, 50 lakh on September 16, 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19, 2020. The country surpassed two crore cases on May 4, 2021, three crore on June 23, 2021, and four crore on January 25 this year.

Forty-seven new fatalities were reported in the country, with the highest numbers from Kerala, West Bengal, and Maharashtra. Other states with reported deaths include Punjab, Assam, Bihar, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Nagaland, and Sikkim.
