1 min read

A 37-year-old police constable, Sameer Jadhav, died after his throat was slit by a manja while riding his bike on the Western Express Highway at Vakola Bridge in Santacruz on Sunday afternoon, according to the police. He was declared dead at Sion Hospital.

Jadhav, who was posted at Dindoshi police station and lived at BDD chawl in Worli, was returning home on his bike after a night duty on Saturday when the incident occurred around 3:30 pm, a police officer said. The Kherwadi police patrolling van was informed and rushed Jadhav to Sion Hospital, where he was declared dead before he could be admitted.

“It appears that a few children from a nearby chawl were flying kites. We are still trying to gather details,” said an officer. The Kherwadi police have registered a case of accidental death report and are investigating further. Jadhav is survived by his wife and two children, officials said.
