1 min read

Truck drivers, especially during the peak of summer, can look forward to a much-needed relief as Union Minister announced that air conditioners will soon be mandatory in the cabins of trucks. The announcement was made during the “Desh Chaalak-Recognising those who move India” event. The Union Road Transport and Highways Minister emphasized the harsh working conditions faced by truck drivers, with temperatures reaching 43-47 degrees. Despite opposition due to cost concerns, the Minister has signed the file to ensure that all truck cabins will be equipped with air conditioning. He also highlighted the shortage of drivers in India, leading to long working hours. Although no specific deadline was mentioned for the rollout of AC-fitted trucks, the Minister stressed the need to reduce logistic costs by improving road quality and truck standards to enhance export competitiveness.
