“Media Reporting on Adani-Hindenburg Matter: Supreme Court Decision”

1 min read

The Supreme Court rejected a plea on Friday to prohibit the media from reporting on the Adani-Hindenburg matter until a decision is made on pending petitions. Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud, leading a three-judge bench, stated that they will not issue any injunction against the media. Advocate M L Sharma, who filed the plea claiming sensationalism by the media, was advised by the bench, including Justices P S Narasimha and J B Pardiwala, to present a reasonable argument instead of seeking an injunction. The court was reminded by the counsel that a decision on a batch of petitions related to the matter is pending. The bench assured that its decision will be announced soon, following the reservation of judgment earlier this month on petitions seeking an investigation into the Hindenburg Research report’s allegations against the Adani Group.
