The Ujjain district administration demolished alleged illegal constructions at the homes of three individuals for reportedly spitting water on devotees during the ‘Baba Mahakal Sawari’ religious procession, according to the police.

At around 10 am, a large police team, accompanied by drummers, arrived at the accused persons’ residences based on claims by the local administration of unauthorized construction.

Additional Superintendent of Police Akash Bhuriya stated that the Revenue and Municipal authorities had identified the illegal constructions and took action accordingly. He mentioned that some individuals had disrupted religious harmony during a recent event in Ujjain, leading to their detention under various Sections. The Municipal Corporation and Revenue Department were informed about the accused, and the illegal encroachments were removed today.

When questioned about the presence of drummers during the operation, he explained that it was a standard procedure to announce the removal of illegal constructions publicly.

Following the circulation of a video online showing individuals allegedly spitting water on a religious procession in Ujjain, which caused protests, the police filed a case against the three individuals from a different community. Subsequently, an FIR was registered, with two of the accused reportedly being minors.
