Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra held two public rallies in Chhattisgarh on Monday, where she made eight promises if Congress retains power. The key promise among them is a Rs 500 subsidy on every refill of gas cylinders, to be paid through banking transactions.

Speaking at a gathering in the newly formed district Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Ganda (KCG), Priyanka mentioned that they have fulfilled their promise made during the bypolls to establish the new district KCG, which she claimed is superior to Gujarat’s model.

She also highlighted that Congress governments in different states have reinstated the Old Pension Scheme, emphasizing the importance of providing protection to people who have worked for over two decades and are nearing retirement. Priyanka urged the people to vote based on the achievements of the Congress government and not be swayed by communal politics.

In addition to the gas subsidy, Priyanka pledged 200 units of free electricity, the waiver of loans for women-led self-help groups, and those covered under the Saksham government scheme. Furthermore, she announced plans to upgrade all 6,000 government high and higher secondary schools to Swami Atmanand English and Hindi schools. She also promised free treatment for accident victims and a waiver of Rs 726 crore in motor vehicle tax and interest for over 6,000 transport business owners since 2018.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel highlighted the Congress’s achievements, including increasing rice procurement to 20 quintals per acre, loan waivers for farmers, housing schemes for 17.50 lakh impoverished individuals, a Rs 10 hike on forest produce, free health services up to Rs 10 lakh, and free education up to post-graduation in government institutions. Additionally, the government plans to raise monetary aid to landless farmers to Rs 10,000 per year.
