Central India Mourns Passing of Sheikh Khalifa, President of the UAE

India has declared a day of state mourning on Saturday to honor the passing of Sheikh Khalifa, who died at the age of 73. The Union Home Ministry has notified all states and union territories that on May 14, there will be a day of state mourning across the country. During this time, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all buildings where it is regularly displayed, and there will be no official entertainment. Sheikh Khalifa, the eldest son of the UAE’s founder President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, served as the President of the UAE and ruler of Abu Dhabi from November 3, 2004. He succeeded his father, who was the UAE’s first president and passed away on November 2, 2004.
