A special committee in Jharkhand has recommended salary and allowance increments of 20-40% for the Chief Minister, ministers, chief whip, Leader of Opposition, and legislative Assembly officials. The committee’s report, released on Monday, suggests raising the CM’s salary from Rs 80,000 to Rs 1 lakh per month, hospitality allowances from Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 per month, and ‘area allowance’ from Rs 80,000 to Rs 95,000 per month.

The committee, consisting of Ramchandra Chandravanshi, Bhanu Pratap Shahi, Dipika Pandey Singh, Pradeep Yadav, and Sameer Mohanty, made these recommendations last month, with the report presented in the Jharkhand Assembly on Monday.

Meanwhile, in the Assembly, Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri criticized the CM for ignoring ED’s summons six times and mentioned the alleged Rs 350 crore black money haul from premises linked to Jharkhand MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu. Speaker Rabindranath Mahato stated that raising ED issues is against the decorum of the House.

Congress MLA Pradeep Yadav questioned the coalition government, which his party is part of, about the delay in conducting a caste census promised five months ago. Congress Minister Alamgir Alam assured that the caste census will be carried out.

Several MLAs inquired about the status of the Local Employment Policy, which mandates 75% reservation for locals in the private sector up to a monthly salary of Rs 40,000. The government reported issuing notices to 2,420 establishments and collecting fines totaling Rs 10.5 lakh from 34 entities.

Congress MLA Irfan Ansari demanded the withdrawal of cases against minority community members booked for protesting against offensive comments made by a former BJP spokesperson.
