India Shines with Six Gold Medals at IJSO 2022!

India emerged as the top performer at the 19th International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO), 2022 in Bogota, Colombia, from December 2 to December 12, winning a total of six gold medals. This marks India’s third consecutive year and fourth overall achieving an all-gold performance at the IJSO.

The event saw a total of 20 gold, 42 silver, and 59 bronze medals being awarded. India stood out by winning the Best Team award with six gold medals and also securing a bronze in the Experimental category.

The Indian team comprised Aritra Malhotra, Rajdeep Mishra, Devesh Bhaiya, Vasu Vijay, Banibrata Majee, and Avaneesh Bansal. The team was accompanied by three leaders: Prof (retd) Chitra Joshi, Dr Subhojit Sen, Vishal Dev Ashok, and one scientific observer, JP Gadre.

A total of 203 students from 35 countries participated in this year’s IJSO. Originally scheduled to be held in Kyiv, the competition was relocated to Bogota, Colombia due to the ongoing conflict in Europe.
