Exciting Highlights of the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa!

The 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa will open on November 20 with the British film “Catching Dust,” and will close with the American film “The Featherweight.” Hollywood actor Michael Douglas will be honored with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the eight-day festival organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Union IB Minister announced the festival line-up on Monday, stating that in response to the rapidly growing entertainment and OTT sector, a new award for the best web series OTT has been introduced. A total of 32 entries from 15 OTT platforms in 10 languages have been selected for this inaugural award.

Fifteen entries, 12 international and three Indian, are in the running for the Golden Peacock award, with a cash prize of Rs 40 lakh for the best film. The Indian films include Kannada film Kantara, Hindi film Sanaa, and Karbi language film Mirbeen. The international jury will be chaired by filmmaker Shekhar Kapur.

The IFFI will feature world premieres of seven restored films in different languages, which have been preserved by the National Film Development Corporation and National Film Archive of India. Additionally, a VFX Tech pavilion will be set up at the 17th edition of the Film Bazaar to support the growth of the visual effects industry in Indian cinema.

The Film Bazaar, held from November 20 to 24 at Marriott Resort, will showcase 20 films from 11 countries. For accessibility, films “Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai” and “Shershaah” will have embedded audio descriptions for the visually impaired, while “83” and “Bhaag Mikha Bhaag” will have embedded sign language for the hearing impaired. Multiple language dubs will also be available for some Indian Panorama Films.
