India Records Lowest Daily Covid Infections Since May 2020!

India recorded its lowest single-day increase in Covid infections since May 12, 2020, with 3,614 new cases bringing the total tally to 4,29,87,875 infections. The number of active cases dropped to 40,559, according to the Union Health Ministry.

The death toll due to the virus reached 5,15,803 with 89 more fatalities, as reported by the ministry at 8 am.

Active cases now make up 0.09% of the total caseload, while the country’s recovery rate has improved to 98.71%, the ministry stated. A decrease of 1,660 cases in the active caseload was noted in the last 24 hours.

The daily case count was the lowest since May 12, 2020, when there were 3,604 cases reported, according to the ministry.

The number of recoveries from the disease has increased to 4,24,31,513, with a case fatality rate of 1.2%.

The daily positivity rate was 0.44%, while the weekly positivity rate was 0.52%. A total of 77.77 crore tests have been conducted to detect the virus, with 8,21,122 tests in the last 24 hours.

Over 179.91 crore anti-Covid vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far.

Of the 89 new fatalities reported on Saturday, 73 were from Kerala. The total number of deaths reported in the country is 5,15,803, including 1,43,750 from Maharashtra, 66,762 from Kerala, 40,016 from Karnataka, 38,023 from Tamil Nadu, 26,140 from Delhi, 23,490 from Uttar Pradesh, and 21,186 from West Bengal.

India’s Covid-19 cases surpassed 20 lakhs on August 7, 2020, 50 lakhs on September 16, 2020, and 1 crore on December 19, 2020. The country reached 2 crores on May 4 last year and 3 crores on June 23 last year.
